Odds tell you the chances of a different outcome than you expect. Odds help you make comparisons between a choice of investments.

In January 2009, one TV analyst recommended Morgan Stanley when it was trading at $20 per share.

scaestimate.com agrees that it was a good call with a 70% probability of success over the next 3 years. What the analyst doesn't realize is that there is a 30% chance the stock could move below $15. Not every investor wants to take a 30% chance of a 25% decline in their investment.
